Antony & Cleopatra

30 August 2024

Antony & Cleopatra at Shakespeare's Globe was very good! It was interestingly presented, with the Egyptians speaking only in BSL and the Romans using English. I thought this was a really clever way of doing it, as it emulated the original language barrier which will (in theory at least) have existed between the two factions in the play.

Seeing a performance at The Globe is almost more of an experience in itself, with the setting of the theatre and atmosphere contributing to the production almost as much as the actors. The theatre is a performer in it's own right!

Overall, a good production!
