Knitting a Baby Blanket

One of my favourite hobbies is knitting.
It's something I've only come to in the last couple of years, but it's great way to relax and unwind.

I decided to knit a blanket for the new child of one of my school teachers.

However, I found a few issues with the pre-existing patterns:

  1. They were expensive
  2. They were ugly
  3. They were a weird size

Because of this, I set about devising my own pattern.

Oliver's Baby Blanket

Difficulty: Beginner
Size: Roughly 95cm x 105cm

Yarn

Super Chunky yarn (semi-acrylic makes it washable)
4 different colours (A, B, C, D)

I used the following:
A - White
B - Yellow
C - Grey
D - Emerald Green

Steps

  1. Cast on 61 stitches in colour A.
  2. Knit 14 rows in colour A.
  3. Change colour to colour B.
  4. Knit another 14 rows.
  5. Change back to colour A, and knit 14 rows.

Repeat the pattern above until it looks like this:

Then wash and block the piece!

Congratulations on your new blanket :)
